I am a unifier. We need someone who is committed to listening and understanding what is best for our students and teachers. We must seek the input of parents, teachers, administration, and taxpayers in order to give our students the best academic path forward. School board members should represent our district in a professional manner and demonstrate this to our students and community. We must respect dissenting opinions and be open to productive discussion. I am committed to this district and to making it better TOGETHER! I know I cannot do anything alone and I want to work with all the stakeholders in the district to help accelerate change and help all students achieve their greatest potential. We cannot elect school board members who have no specific plans on how to help our district. Listed below are specific plans I would like to bring before the board. My Unity Plan Brookview Elementary School needs expanding. Lake Elmo Elementary needs a new school to reduce overcrowding. All our students need safe, clean, modern bathrooms that function properly in order to promote a safe environment in our schools. I will work with community and board members to place these important items on the 2021 bond referendum. I look forward to hiring a superintendent who is interviewed and supported by a panel representing the diversity of our community. It is important to listen to the community, parents, teachers, and students in determining what they feel are important qualities in our next leader. It is vital that we place a priority on hiring a superintendent who will have a long term commitment to our district to ensure stability and consistency. I will be available to our community for productive dialog throughout my time on the board. I will prioritize gathering input from teachers, administrators, and support staff by visiting our schools and actively listening! My Achievement Plan All of our students deserve an equal opportunity to a quality education in order to become productive members of society. I will suggest the board create a diversity and inclusion panel in order to advise the School Board. This panel will be made up of teachers, students, and parents. I will encourage our schools to pursue additional certifications, such as Blue Ribbon Schools, Minnesota Schools of Excellence, and Minnesota Schools of Character. This will mean more training for our teachers, and will help attract and retain more students in the Stillwater School District. I know we have the best teachers in the state and I want them to get the recognition they deserve. My Financial Promise Transparency and accountability with district money should be expected by the Board, administration, and anyone else in our district who is responsible for financial decisions. I will seek clarity on financial decisions before voting to sign any contract.
